Coffee is one of the most consumed beverages in the world, but for many years the effects on health have been disputed by the medical community. In recent years though, modern research has provided insightful information about the possible health benefits of coffee consumption and proven the myths surrounding negative coffee effects on health wrong. Most scientific studies suggest that adults who consume a moderate amount of coffee (three to four cups per day), there is very little evidence of health risks but evidence of health benefits. A recent study even suggests that drinking coffee is inversely associated with risk of death. Many other studies show the beneficial health effects of drinking coffee. The detailed mechanisms behind these positive health effects have yet to be studied, and continue to be an active area of research in the health industry.
