Sumatra Mandheling - Wahana Estate - Tico Coffee Roasters

Sumatra Mandheling - Wahana Estate

$ 15.00

Sumatra coffees are famous for their peculiar flavor profile, low acidity, thick body, and rustic flavors that can often be described as earthy. Much of the flavor comes from the way Sumatra coffees are processed, the wet-hull method. The coffee is from the Wahana Estate located near the town of Sidikalang along the shores of Lake Toba which was formed from a supervolcano, in the province of North Sumatra on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia.

The Wahana Estate cultivates 250 hectares of coffee and preserves 100 hectares of natural forest. The estate also has a mill facility, composting factory, free health clinic and farmers’ support center, which offers shade trees, organic fertilizer, coffee seeds, and farm management training for small producers in the region.
