We introduced this coffee for the first time in 2018 and it immediately became our best coffee of that year and a Good Food Awards Finalist in 2018.
The coffee is coming from the Banko Gotiti Washing Station in the Gedeb District in Ethiopia. Banko Gootiti is the name of both the village and the washing station where this coffee is produced and is located close to the border of the Oromia Region. The closest main town is Gedeb, south of Yirgacheffe, in the Gedeo Zone of the Southern Nations Region. This coffee is from certified organic production.
Origin
Grower: METAD Agricultural Development plc
Farm: Banko Gotiti Washing Station
Region: Gotiti, Gedeb District, Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia
Cultivar: Indigenous heirloom
Altitude: 1900 to 2200 meters
Processing Method: Fully washed and dried on raised beds
Profile
Roast Level: Light Roast
Cup profile: abundant stone fruit, citrus, and berry fruits layered with plenty of inherent honey sweetness and that slightly floral and slightly savory
The Cup: This coffee is one of the most unique and thrilling coffees we have ever seen. It could fit the mold of an exceptional washed Ethiopian coffee but it is a little bigger, a little bolder, and a little less subtle. And this is the reason why this coffee was a Finalist in the 2018 Good Food Awards.
